Novel route to W[O.sub.x] nanorods and W[S.sub.2] nanotubes from W[S.sub.2] inorganic fullerenes
Article Abstract:
A study presents a novel approach, using solid-vapor reaction, to realize transformation from quasi-zero-dimensional W[S.sub.2] to one-dimensional [W.sub.18][O.sub.49] nanorods, and subsequent sulfuration reactions to further convert these nanorods into W[S.sub.2] tubes. The reaction temperature, quantity of water vapor, and pretreatment of the W[S.sub.2] nanoparticle precursors serve as important process parameters for long, thin, and homogeneous [W.sub.18][O.sub.49] nanorods growth.

Catalytic isomerization of quadricyclane using Fourier transform near-infrared absorption spectroscopy: Diffusion, conversion, and temperature effect
Article Abstract:
Fourier transform near-infrared (NIR) absorption spectroscopy is used to study the kinetic behaviors of quadricyclane isomerization, as catalyzed by anhydrous CuSO4 in chloroform mixture with and without agitation. The activation energy for the two-site coordination is more difficult to surmount by a factor of 10.
